WHO WE ARE?
The Standish Independents are a local political party in Standish, Wigan. Understanding that neither the Tories or Labour have the best interest of Standish and the community at heart, as they only worry about themselves, the Standish Independents was born in 2009.
​They have had 3 Cllrs for Standish over the years including this years candidate Gareth Fairhurst, who has served as a Cllr for 12 years in the past.
WHAT WE DO
Standing with the residents !
The Standish Independents believe Cllrs should serve the communities they are in, like Standish, not the national political party head quarters in London, like the Tories and Labour.
​Unlike the Labour Cllrs who tell you what you want and not listen to you, your concerns or what is needed in the community, the Standish Independents stand side by side with the residents of Standish and listen to the local residents and their concerns, like when Kilhey court was used to house economic migrants and the Labour and Tory Cllr's ran and hid from residents by cancelling their surgeries and not responding to public meetings and protests. Shame on them! You will never get that from Standish Independents, even when controversial issues crop up, they will stand with residents.
